Do you want to capture your dog’s personality and his/her authentic moments with quality images? Then this is the class for you! You will learn how to use the core functions of your camera: shutter speed, aperture and ISO as well as composition basics. We will go over the tricks of the trade to get great portraits, candids and action shots. This class will not only help you photograph your dog but will also upgrade all your photo skills.

To get the most out of this class, you will need a camera that you can set shutter and aperture.  Phone cameras will do just fine as well and in fact, we encourage you to learn to shoot with your phone camera, even if you already have a camera.

The only requirement with a phone camera is that it must allow you to set shutter speed, aperture and iso.  The phone may be able to natively do it or, if not, you can download a camera app that allows you to set these functions.  There are many quality camera apps, free and paid.  We suggest Camera ZOOM FX if you need a place to start.  That is what we use.

Bring your camera’s manual if you have it.

Pre-requisite

Please, no dogs with aggression issues toward other dogs or people. Otherwise, all dogs are welcome! It helps to have a well-trained dog, and it is recommended that you take initial basic manners classes such as our Puppy Preschool and/or Basic Training so that it will be easier for you to photograph your dog when you want them to hold for a shot.

Instructor

Ellen Yeiser is a dog lover, photography instructor and fine art photographer. She has taught a wide variety of photography classes for Working With Artists, Englewood Camera, and Digital Photo Academy. Her photography has been shown at many galleries in both Colorado and across the USA. She has completed several bodies of work focusing on abstract and water. She is working on several new bodies of work, including a dog book. Ellen has two rescue dogs that are quite spoiled (but well-trained by The Light of Dog).
