Would you enjoy your time away more if you knew your dog was in a home being treated like family? When you return, do you feel as if you are starting over with your training? Are you concerned about your dog being in a kennel all day at a boarding facility or alone all day at home except for a couple of short visits by a petsitter?
If you want the very best for your dog, then our Boarding option is for you. Your dog will certainly be thrilled to see you when you return, but dogs who stay with us are having too much fun on their own vacation to worry while you are gone. They will have the company of other dogs (but not too many), lots of comfortable places to nap, and of course lots of time hanging out with us! They can play in the fenced back yard or sun themselves on the deck. They have 13.5 acres of property to explore on walks.
Dogs must be house-trained, crate trained and dog-friendly. We are not able to take dogs with aggression issues and dogs that can jump over a 6-foot fence. We require a 25% non-refundable deposit on the boarding stay in order to secure the boarding dates. Receipt of payment of the deposit secures the boarding dates for your dog.

We highly recommend boarding your dog at the Light of Dog. It’s a five star and five WOOFS facility, with dog professionals, on a beautiful farm /ranch property that is safe, secure and supportive, and in a loving environment. Your dog will have so much fun that he/she may not want to come home!
Having recently adopted our Lab just six weeks ago, from a local rescue group, we wanted to start training right away at a Basic Manners class with Sue. We signed up after a private consult with her. Even more important and timely, was making sure our new 4 legged Blonde teenager was going to be well cared for during our 5 day out of town trip that had been planned over a year ago. We were concerned that our dog would believe that he was going to be abandoned once again, having been in a shelter prior to his transport to Colorado. But, no worries!
He absolutely loved being at the farm, playing with Zu Zu and Romeo, (owners dogs), going on walks on a long line with Ed and Sue, and exploring the great outdoors. There is a very clean and bright indoor room (flooring is padded, lots of windows for natural light) if the weather is inclement, and there are two large kennels , along with a meal prep area, fridge, and an outside door leading to the fenced property . Dogs are allowed to be in the house as well. This is in contrast to many large dog boarding places that are stressful for your dog, with the constant barking, confined runs, and not that much interaction with the staff, due to the sheer number of dogs that need to be cared for. Supervised play, a regular schedule of walks, and safety are Ed and Sue’s priority for their boarders. Many dogs who board frequently are so excited to “go to the ranch/spa/dog nirvana ”again, that they don’t even look back at their owners to bark “have a great time Mom and Dad!” I’m certain our dog will be the same way after just one 5 day stay!
Sue keeps you updated on how your dog is doing, and sends photos too! Peace of mind for you! The pre boarding forms are well thought out, and you can bring your pet’s own food, bedding, treats, toys and special instructions. In case of an emergency, there is a large vet hospital nearby.
We can’t say enough about the exceptional care our dog received at Light of Dog, and how he came back a more confident dog. We believe it is similar to a child going away to “overnight camp”, and returning a different little person in the most positive way!
Sincerely,
Debbie and John

Sue and Ed at The Light of Dog took terrific care of our boisterous Akita. They graciously welcomed her on short notice when a house/pet sitter cancelled just before our spring break holiday. The registration process was thorough; and, it was a delight to see that they were so committed to making our dog’s stay as comfortable and as “close to home” as possible. I received photos during our absence showing that our furry baby was having a great time and meeting new friends. Scheduling drop off and pick up was a breeze. I was greeted by an excited and happy pup who had obviously made herself at home away from home. Thank you for your attentive care.

Fraser’s first visit with Love my Dog Training was when he was only about 4 months old. Since then, Fraser has had several stays with Love my Dog Training. I won’t take Fraser anywhere else to stay. Sue and Ed always take great care of Fraser and treat him like one of their own. His play time with Zuzu and Romeo is his favorite thing about boarding. Fraser starts to get excited when we pull into the driveway – he can’t wait to get out of the car and play! Every time Fraser stays with them, they take the time to go over Fraser’s needs and my expectations during the trip. I get updates and photos often so leaving him isn’t as hard. During one of Fraser’s stays, Sue noticed that he wasn’t playing and running as much as he had in previous visits. Because of Sue’s observances, Fraser’s hip dysplasia condition was caught early and I was able to start managing it so that Fraser could continue to have a fabulous life. Thank you, Sue and Ed, for loving my dog as much as I do.

While our family was on vacation, our energetic Australian Shepherd had a wonderful vacation of her own with Sue and Ed!
The renovations they have done to best accommodate their boarding dogs is fantastic!
They communicated well with us while we were away about how our dog was doing, who she was playing with and what her day entailed! We even got great pictures!
The thoughtfulness and love they give the dogs in their care is fantastic!

Boarding at The Light of Dog is top notch! Sue and Ed truly welcome their canine guests like family. Our dog is as excited to see Sue and Ed when we drop him off as he is to see us when we get home. Who wouldn’t love a vacation full of hikes and playing with friends? That is exactly how our dog spends his time when we are away and he loves it. The action photos of playtime are a wonderful treat too.
