TRAINING FOR MY DOG
Dog parkour is all about turning the world into your dog’s playground. From city benches to mountain stumps, every obstacle is a chance to build strength, confidence, and teamwork. In this issue, meet the pups who are leaping, balancing, and climbing their way through parkour—each with their own style and story.
Quick Bites
- Any Dog Can Do Parkour. Big or small, young or old—parkour can be tailored to every dog’s size, age, and confidence level. Start where your dog is comfortable and build up gradually.
- Start Small, Build Confidence. Begin with easy obstacles like curbs, stumps, or low benches. Even simple challenges help dogs gain muscle, coordination, and courage.
- Let Your Dog Choose. Encourage but don’t force. Give your dog the freedom to try, skip, or offer a different behavior—rewarding the effort builds trust and resilience.
- Make Fitness Fun. Parkour strengthens balance, core muscles, and body awareness, but dogs think it’s just play. Consistent practice keeps both body and mind sharp.
- Turn Walks Into Adventures. Every walk is an opportunity—urban or rural. With creativity, a curb, a log, or a stairway becomes a training tool and confidence booster.
