While muzzles are not a long-term or permanent solution, they can be a valuable tool in the path to achieving the success we are looking for with certain dogs.
Basket muzzles are preferable to cloth muzzles that close the mouth. Dogs should never wear those types of muzzles for more than a minute or two for something like grooming or emergency care.
If your dog is a potential bite risk (or has already bitten someone) OR if your dog has a tendency to eat things he should not, a muzzle for the short-term might be a great step in your plan to reduce or eliminate these behaviors.
