Notes from Week 31:
- Adolescence is in full swing
- while we like to think of our dogs as “puppies” for a lot longer sometimes. . .
- puppyhood really ends by about 6 months
- Zooka is starting to show some adolescent behaviors now and then
- getting into things he did not before
- able to reach things he could not before
- though it seemed like we were past those really wild and crazy puppy “zoomies” we are most definitely NOT
- they used to be very consistent and predictable in the evening
- now we see them less often but they still crop up
- this is in part due to getting enough play time and play dates during the day
- the days he does not have friends to let off steam with, we see more of these behaviors
- behaviors that are very similar to those puppy antics but now there is that bigger stronger mouth minus the razor sharp teeth
- Nail filing
- we have not been as diligent about nail trimming
- getting back into better cooperation after a backslide
- continued teaching him to use a scratch board to file down some of his own nails
- this is continuing and going well – fewer nails for me to trim!
