In this post, we are in the same park but doing a short training session. Puppy training sessions in new places are highly recommended. Set your puppy up for success by keeping things simple, short and sweet in new places!
While most of our training sessions at this age are at home, we want to make sure we help Zooka start to learn that connection and tune-in and listening will need to happen EVERYWHERE we go!
In this training session, we are using our clicker as we do for all of our early training sessions with Zooka. In this case, we are not ASKING Zooka to do anything. We are simply clicking and rewarding any choices he makes that we like. For this session, that consists mostly of sitting and/or looking at me.
As you can see in the video, he does a very nice job! Note that we did this session AFTER we did a short walk and some exploring so he got a chance to check things out a bit before we expected him to tune in and focus on us.
At ten-and-a-half weeks old, Zooka had only been with us for a week-and-a-half since we picked him up from the breeder at nine weeks old. We think he's doing a pretty darned good job so far!
Our goal is to positively impact the lives of as many dogs and their families as we can, in part through our extensive library of video, infographics and text articles.
