Willy is a Goldendoodle who boards with us at The Light of Dog regularly. We sometimes joke that we share custody of him since he's here so often. When dogs board with us, we keep a Boarding Log where we post daily updates and photos. We could write a book with all of Willy's adventures here, so we thought we would share a few of his stories. This is an excerpt from Willy's log, dated 12/12/21.

Oh, wait, almost forgot the most interesting part of the walk today. . .

I decided to sit on the bench by the chicken coop for a minute to see if I could get Willy to just sit for a minute (in the area close to where prime bunny distractions are).

He stared for a minute. I could not figure out if he was watching Ed (who was out there too) or at the chickens. . .

Then he starts barking – the “holy crap, what is that?!” kind of barking. Something had him spooked. 

At first, I could not figure out what he was barking at.

He was barking at the scarecrow decorations outside the chicken coop.

We have walked by them how many times? Either he has never noticed them or he just never saw them from that particular angle or something.

Wow. Took a while to get him to come anywhere close.

I went over and touched them to show they were not scary.

He came within a few feet, then got scared again and shot back several feet.

So, I guess we will try visiting them again this week and see how it goes. . .
