Notes from Week 30:
- Housetraining
- Week 16 (8/18) was last time we had an accident in the house
- Until this week. . .
- Back home for only a couple of hours, unpacking from our trip, all 3 of us in our master closet
- Lifted his leg and peed on the carpet with us standing within two feet of him
- Interrupted and got out as quickly as possible
- Marking behavior possibly?
- Have never seen this behavior on our trips away from home or at home until now
- Hopefully a fluke but will keep a closer eye on him for now
- Nail filing
- we have not been as diligent about nail trimming
- seeing more reluctance, and less cooperation
- need to get back to doing this a few times per week
- started teaching him to use a scratch board to file down some of his own nails
- we have two – a board and a large pvc pipe, both with sandpaper duct-taped on
- teaching him to scratch his front feet along it to file down nails on his front feet
- still clipping rear feet
- finding so far that the scratch board works great for the center two nails but not the two outside nails
- need to see if we can adjust angle to get outside nails too
- we have not been as diligent about nail trimming
- Continue training
- continuing with everything we've been doing so far
- Name, Sit, Down, Stand, Sleep, Touch, Watch Me, Wait, Stay, LLW, Heel, Front, Swing, Finish, Come, Lift, Bring It, Drop It, Leave It, Chin, Kennel Up, Night Night, Back Up
- continuing with everything we've been doing so far
- Continue group classes
- continuing with Juvenile Delinquents Class
- still takes him some time to settle into the class environment
- still really wants to socialize with other dogs
- once he gets settled in and working, he normally does well
- Field trips
- the first day of this week was the last day of our big road trip
- drove from Santa Fe, New Mexico back home to Colorado
- Play Dates
- no scheduled play dates this week
- boarding dogs, two Goldendoodles, both male between 8 months and 2 years old
- lots of play time with one or both
- inside and outside
- all three boys are intact (not neutered) and getting along just fine!
- one has played with Zooka many times before, one is new
Our goal is to positively impact the lives of as many dogs and their families as we can, in part through our extensive library of video, infographics and text articles. |
