I realize most people don't read dog training books for fun like I do, but I thought I would mention this book since both Dogwise.com and Amazon.com have it on sale right now. The full title of the book is quite a mouthful (perhaps they were aiming for longest title of a book ever):
The Association of Pet Dog Trainers Top Tips from Top Trainers: 1001 Practical Tips and Techniques for Successful Dog Care and Training
It was just published earlier this year (2010), and it's different from most books, which you might or might not like. This is a compilation of tips from hundreds of trainers who are members of the Association of Pet Dog Trainers. While most of you have probably never heard of this organization, it has nearly 6,000 members from 26 different countries. I am one of those members. They put on the largest dog training conference in the world every year. I go as often as I can to their conference because it's the most information you can get in one place. Might sound boring to you, but to dog trainers like me, it's very exciting!
The book is organized by topics from A-Z with tips from various trainers on each topic. You're getting snippets of advice from hundreds of different trainers for a very small fee. It's probably not something you'd read from cover to cover, but more likely would go to various topics as things come up with your own dogs. The back of the book contains a list of the trainers who contributed to the book with their business and locations so if you like their advice, you can find someone nearby if you want more help with training or behavior issues.
Yours truly is included in that list. I have a few tips in the book on different subjects. If you're interested, check out the book at Dogwise.com or Amazon.com:
